Sully/SLR15 Extractor Ring
The O-ring has been used in the AR15/M16 Extraction
System for years. We have put them in other
weapons systems for way over a decade. What we
have found is that most O-rings are made of butyl
rubber. Butyl rubber works fine for positive tension.
The downside to butyl rubber is that its' temperature
range is -65 to 200. Butyl rubber also does not hold
up well to many solvents, lubricants and chemicals,
especially those that might be petroleum based.
With some research, we have had a special ring made
for us, the operation range is -15 to 400, so it holds
up better under extreme heat. It also holds up well to
solvents, lubricants, and chemicals, especially those
that are petroleum based.
The Sully/SLR15 Extractor Ring is available at www.cy6gear.com.

Sully's Thoughts on Training & Learning
Read the entire article at TacticalReality.com
These are a few of my thoughts on modern self
defense and training principles.
For those of you that know me and some of my
background, know that I have trained in the
Japanese Arts since I was a small child. I bring many
of these principles to our doctrine through body
physics and mechanics, also in the spiritual aspect
and thought. You will see that I focus lots of body
mechanics and physics on shooting foundations of
how things work and recoil management. I was
always taught that weapons are extensions of your
arms and legs, so I view modern day self defense
tools as extensions of the limbs. You will also see
that I am a firm believer in consistent training.
Training means that one should seek out training
knowledge from someone who has something to
teach, but training also means practice of what you
already know.
I have had the great honor to have been able to train
under many of the Japanese Masters. This is an
honor that I have always taken seriously. Yaguchi
Sensei (my Master) would be gracious enough to
come and visit us four times a year. When it was
announced that one of the Sensei's were coming to
our area, every Karateka would clear their schedule
and make it to the training session, this showed your
dedication and respect, as it is viewed as a Great
Honor that they would come to us to educate us.
The Masters would occasionally also change things in
Kata's, Kumite, and Bunkai. IMHO these slight subtle
changes were done for the purpose of furthering our
knowledge, but also to keep students on their toes,
as it would show at testing if a student had been
attending the latest seminars etc, as if he was doing
old movements and applications it would show.
Next month: Sully's thoughts on Funakoshi Sensei's
Dojo Kun - and the application to tactics and
training.

Congratulations to SWAT Magazine's Sweepstakes SLR15 Rifle Winner!
Congratulations to Mike from Arizona, winner of the
SWAT Magazine Sweepstakes!
Mike received an SLR15 Commander with Sully Stock,
carry case, 2 USGI 30 round magazines, certificate
for free training, and was very pleased when his FFL
let him know the rifle was ready. Here's a note from
Mike:
"Picked up this beautiful shooter this morning. Had to
stop on the way home to show it off. Can not thank
you enough for the great rifle and SWAT magazine for
picking me as the winner. The carrying case is
excellent and I'm looking forward to exercising the
free training certificate. Well, it is time to pack up
the new targets and weapon and head to my favorite
shooting spot. Again, thanks for the rifle, targets
(from SWAT magazine drawing), and the unexpected
gun case, certificate, magazines. Also, my SWAT
magazine came in the mail today."
Mike
"Happy Dude"
Mike, we hope you enjoy your rifle - and use it often,
giving it plenty of attention on the range - Sully.
